VÍDEO | Delfines brillan en aguas bioluminiscentes

Debido a que grandes poblaciones se encuentran confinadas en sus hogares a causa de la cuarentena para detener el avance del COVID-19, la naturaleza ha resultado la máxima beneficiaria, permitiendo que diversos fenómenos biológicos que no se habían visto en años, ahora se presenten, por ejemplo: la bioluminiscencia en las aguas del Océano Pacífico mexicano.

Ahora, un nuevo suceso ocurrió en el Océano Pacífico de Estados Unidos, donde fueron captados unos delfines ‘luminosos’.

La fascinante manada de delfines “brillando”, fue filmada por el fotógrafo Patrick Coyne y el capitán Ryan Lawler, cuando ambos se aventuraron en las aguas de la costa californiana para capturar y apreciar de una mejor manera el fenómeno natural. Coyne decidió compartir su experiencia en su cuenta de Instagram donde subió un vídeo con una duración de 45 segundos, acompañado del siguiente mensaje:

«Anoche ocurrió una de las noches más mágicas de mi vida. El capitán Ryan Lawler, de Newport Coastal Adventure, me invitó a capturar vídeos raros de delfines nadando en bioluminiscencia. La primera vez que vi esto filmado fue hace unos meses mientras veía el documental Night on Earth, en Netflix. En el segundo en que vi ese vídeo, se convirtió en un sueño mío capturar un día algo similar y eso fue exactamente lo que hicimos», reveló en fotógrafo en su perfil de Facebook.

Además, compartió las complejas características de la bioluminiscencia, pues aceptó que fue increíblemente difícil capturar a los delfines con este peculiar fenómeno:

«La bioluminiscencia tiene puntos dulces donde aparece y luego se desvanece, por lo que es imposible encontrarla en el agua. No solo eso, sino que encontrar cualquier tipo de animal en tono negro es tan ridículamente difícil. Las condiciones tienen que ser absolutamente perfectas para que aparezca la bioluminiscencia y que un animal nade a través de ella para poder filmarla. Además de todo eso, tratar de clavar el foco en una apertura tan amplia con algo moviéndose en el agua es una pesadilla. Estuvimos fuera por unas horas y en el tramo de regreso finalmente tuvimos delfines  que comenzaron el increíble espectáculo brillante«, agregó Patrick.

Last night was truly one of the most magical nights of my life. Capt. Ryan @lawofthelandnsea of @newportcoastaladventure invited me along to capture rare video of Dolphins swimming in bioluminescence. The first time I saw this actually filmed was a few months back while watching a Night on Earth documentary on Netflix. The second I saw that footage it became a dream of mine to one day capture something similar and that’s exactly what we did. This was by far the most challenging video I’ve shot for a number of reason. For starters the bioluminescence has sweet spots to where it shows up and then fades away so while on the water it’s impossible to just find it. Not only that but actually finding any type of animal in pitch black is just so ridiculously hard. Conditions have to be absolutely perfect for the bioluminescence to show up and to have an animal swim through it so we can film it. On top of all that just trying to nail the focus at such a wide aperture with something moving in the water was a nightmare. We were out for a few hours and on our final stretch back we finally had 2 Dolphins pop up to start the incredible glowing show. A few minutes later and we were greeted by a few more which was insane. I’m honestly still processing this all and I can’t thank @newportcoastaladventure enough for having me out because without them none of this would be possible.
